Can design be a tools for liberation?
A possible answer was given by inviting Aldo Cibic to direct the carpentry workshop of Casa Circondaria, Spoleto city jail. An invite to listen more than to advice, a journey into the many things you can do with the few jail cell items. A lesson about consumption’s economy and thought liberation.

This is how Freedom Room was born. An embryonic idea, still in the making, of a 9 square meters hotel room. Where few objects must be “many things”, not just one. The designed module, together with images, essays and drawings were presented at the Triennale design museum in Milan. In the Italian design mecca, where famous installations and great spectacularization of design finds their highest climax, Freedom Room has instead told the power of thought.
